Professional Duties and Responsibilities
Dr. Lovett currently serves as the Superintendent of Schools for Independent School District No. 624. As such, Dr. Lovett is responsible for the overall operation of the nine elementary school programs, two middle schools, a two-campus senior high school, area learning center, a transition center for students with special needs aged 18-21, and an early childhood and senior center, all of which comprise the facilities of the White Bear Lake Area School District. Dr. Lovett oversees the day-to-day activities of the district's 8,500 students and over 1,000 employees while managing the district's $80 million budget. Dr. Lovett is also responsible for coordinating services and working with the ten different municipalities that lie within the geographical boundary of District 624.

Education Background
Dr. Lovett holds a B.A. degree from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Minnesota. As an undergraduate, he also studied at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan.

Professional Experiences
Prior to joining White Bear Lake Area Schools, Dr. Lovett served as Assistant Superintendent for Minnetonka Public Schools, and prior to that as an administrator in Intermediate School District 917 (Rosemount), the State Department of Education, and the Forest Lake and Hopkins districts in Minnesota. He began his career in education as a social studies teacher in New York.

In addition to his work in public education, Dr. Lovett is an adjunct instructor at the University of Minnesota, teaching at the graduate school level in the licensure program for school administrators. He is also a published author and regularly contributes to national education publications for administrators, teachers and parents.
