DID You Guess Our New School Name?
A new clue poem was read during morning announcements each school day from January 5 until January 11. Students had a chance to reveal one of the letters in the proposed new name of our school each day. The proposed new name will be brought to the school board on January 11 and the final decision for our proposed school name will be announced at the school board meeting on February 8.

Tuesday's clue:
Some are named Bob and some are named Jane
This name is unique and not quite the same
You can use it for first, you can use it for last
But one thing for sure it reflects our past
Living round here it's hard to escape
the beauty of gardens and landscapes
Our name has a history that sprouts from our lawns
Swans, Fawns and this thing that came and is now gone
A first nation of people lived long in this place
The spirit lives on with stories we embrace
Our name comes from them and the stories they weave
They're beautiful stories we love to believe
Four furry paws might travel and play
From the north to the south and out of the way
They'll lead you to the name of our school
Wrapped in a warm coat, it lives where it's cool
These clues all together may be kinda confusing
Seven letters to get us all to start musing
Another word for a bear is part of the mystery
Living around here and part of our history

School Closing Alerts
If winter weather is so severe that schools need to close, parents will be alerted in four ways as soon as a decision is made:
1. An Instant Alert phone message and email will be sent to all parents.
2. There will be a message on the WBL School closing hotline: 651-407-7540.
3. A message will be posted on www.whitebear.k12.mn.us .
4. Closings will be posted on local news channels.
We know that closing schools can be disruptive, especially for working families. Student and staff safety are our primary concern. Questions?
Contact the communications office at 651-407-7695. |
