White Bear Lake Area Schools' Extended Day programs accredited

For Immediate Release: July 13, 2011
WBLAS Contact: Marisa Vette, 651-407-7695, marisa.vette@isd624.org

The White Bear Lake Area Schools Extended Day programs at Lincoln and Vadnais Elementary Schools recently were accredited through the Minnesota Afterschool Accreditation Project (MAAP). Programs at Lakeaires, Matoska International and Otter Lake Elementary Schools received accreditation earlier in the 2011-12 academic year.

Accreditation is a strong indication of program quality. It provides afterschool professionals with performance indicators and benchmarks of quality to guide program planning, implementation and evaluation. Accreditation also serves families in making informed choices about afterschool care for their children. The accreditation process supports a team approach to program improvement and fosters competent, caring and qualified staff.

“This award is a direct result of solid leadership, teamwork, family support and perseverance ina self-study process,” said Pat Riebau, Extended Day coordinator. “Those qualities, combined with ongoing commitment by all involved, will assure that these programs will continue to maintain the high level of quality that they have attained.”
