environments that build skills, confidence, and community.”

Building Skills

We will build skills by...

  • Providing youth enrichment, leadership, and service learning experiences that build self confidence, heighten school/community connectedness and are attractive to all students.
  • Examining current educational practices and how they affect student learning.
  • Implementing programs that provide health-promoting knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes.
  • Offering challenging and supportive programs that build on the strengths of our youth
  • Collaborating with families and the community to reduce risk factors and enhance protective factors.
  • Providing staff development opportunities to facilitate learning experiences that guide and empower youth.
  • Preparing teachers to effectively facilitate learning for every individual student, no matter how culturally similar or different from himself/herself.

Building Confidence

We will build confidence by...

  • Engaging youth in problem solving, solution building, and decision making experiences.
  • Fostering the development of healthy, competent, caring, contributing, and responsible youth in our schools and community.
  • Empowering every student to achieve her/his potential.

Building Community

We will build community by...

  • Building capacity of every member of the school community to participate in an intercultural society.
  • Producing socially and critically active staff and students.
  • Including the voices and experiences of all students.
  • Developing positive relationships amongst and between youth and adults in the schools and community.
