Volunteer Opportunity
Descriptions
- Advisory Committee – Join this committee of dedicated community members interested in working
closely with our Program Coordinator offering guidance and new ideas for
the development of programs and services to benefit the 60+ residents of
the White Bear Lake Area School District (meets six times per year).
Annual election of members. (2 year terms).
- Clean Crew - Offer light-duty cleaning assistance in
the kitchens and classrooms of the center. Schedule may vary depending on
your availability.
- Craft Corner Clerk
– Assist with sales, display of items and other assigned tasks for the
Craft Corner Gift Shop. Comfortable handling money. Availability once a
week and/or on a substitute basis. Hours are Monday – Friday, 11:00
a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Background Check Required)

Foot
Care Clinic Receptionist –
Sign-in participants when they arrive for their foot care appointment. Foot Care schedule is every Friday and the 2nd and 4th
Mondays of the month. Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Morning or
afternoon shifts available. Confidentiality a must. (Background Check
Required)
- Mailing Assembly/Proofer – Work as a
group assembling inserts/envelopes into the Senior Voice in
preparation for bulk mailing. Available for other mailing assembly
projects at the center and as requested by our community. Proofers needed
every two months to assist in the proofing our program newsletter.
- Meals on Wheels Kitchen Aide
– Assist cook with packing food in carriers or sanitize carriers and work
with drivers when they return from the route. Volunteers needed
Monday - Friday, 9:00-11:00 a.m. or 12:30-1:15 p.m. One day a
week. Flexible schedule.
- Meals on Wheels Route Delivery– Deliver meals to homebound residents of the White Bear Lake Area School
District. You can choose to deliver once a week, once every other week, or
be on-call to fill in as needed. Meals are picked up around 11:15 a.m.
and delivered to 8-15 people. Takes approximately 1 to 1½ hours. (Background
Check Required)
- Office Assistant – Perform general receptionist duties such as: answering phones,
handling class registrations, assisting people when they come into the
office, and assisting staff with various tasks as needed. Must have
independent computer skills and available to work one half day a week from
8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 12:30-4:30 p.m. Minimum time commitment of one
year or more. Excellent customer service skills required. Confidentiality
a must. (Background Check Required)
- Senior Center Assistant
– Assist with the hospitality and day-to-day organization of the center
Ongoing Programs and events. Flexible schedule.
- Volunteer Visitor
- Opportunity for a volunteer to experience one on one visiting with a
senior in their home to chat, play games, write letters, go for walks,
etc. Visitors will be matched with a senior who shares similar interests.
A minimum of one year and at least two visits per month is asked of the
volunteer who will build a trusting, honest relationship that will relieve
the isolation of the senior by providing social contact and friendship. (Background Check Required)
Community Volunteer Opportunities
- Friendship & Flowers Visitor
– Deliver flowers and treats to isolated seniors in our community. Time
commitment of once a month. This program is offered in partnership
between the Senior Program and Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly. Call 612-746-0753, e-mail

- Senior Chore Program of the White
Bear Lake Area – Volunteers
are needed to perform a variety of tasks, some of which include: leaf
raking, lawn mowing, window washing, cleaning gutters, trimming shrubs,
indoor cleaning, snow removal, handrail or grab bar installation,
organizing and “de-cluttering”, minor household repairs servicing seniors
65+ living in our community. For more information, contact Sally Cain at

- The Gathering - a
program within Lyngblomsten’s continuum of services to older adult
– Volunteers
needed to actively engage in planning activities for the participants. Specialized training prepares volunteers to work effectively with adults
experiencing memory loss. The Gathering is a program that offers a day of
renewal for those people experiencing, early to mid-stage memory loss. This program provides a variety of stimulating activities with a specially
trained group of volunteers. The Gathering is offered at three different
sites in White Bear Lake on Thursdays, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. For more
