Lionmobile TransportationThe Lionmobile is a shared ride, lift-equipped vehicle that provides door-to-door transportation for medical and non-medical rides. We provide transportation to residents of the White Bear Lake School District who are 60+ years of age and qualified disabled adults under the age of 60. Hours of operation are: Monday – Friday, 8:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. Click here for Lionmobile Transportation Services Rider Guide. Click here for Lionmobile Transportation Brochure. M We will accept medical ride requests up to a month in advance of your appointment and fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Non-medical Appointments: We will accept non-medical ride requests up to a week before the appointment and fill on a first-come, first-served basis. You will be called the day before your appointment with your approximate pick-up time. When you finish your appointment, call our office at 651-653-3122 and let us know. We dispatch the vehicle by radio. Since the Lionmobile is a shared ride system there may be a wait due to scheduling of other clients. Please be patient if we have a busy day. Rides home must be completed within the time frame of 3:30–4:15 p.m. as the Lionmobile is out of service by 4:30 p.m. If you cannot keep your appointment, you must call as soon as possible to cancel your ride. "No-shows" and late cancellations are costly and create schedule problems. If you cancel your ride the same day as appointment you are still responsible for the fare. The exception to this is if the doctor calls the day of your appointment to cancel or reschedule. We allow 10 minutes before or after the established pick-up time. Since the majority of our rides are for medical appointments; it is important for our clients to arrive on time. To maintain our schedule the Lionmobile will wait a maximum time of 5 minutes per client. The following fares are requested from those riding the Lionmobile (including escorts):
The full cost of a ride averages $23.30 per one-way ride. We are able to offer the above fare schedule thanks to our funders and donations received. We encourage all qualifying seniors to apply for Metro Mobility certification. Call 651-602-1111 for application information. Please note: If White Bear Lake Area Schools (ISD #624) are closed because of inclement weather, the Lionmobile will not be in operation. If weather is bad, listen to one of the following radio stations for information: WCCO-830AM or KSTP-1500AM. You may also call the school closing hot line at 651-407-7540. The Lionmobile is funded by the White Bear Lake Area School District, White Bear Lake Lion’s Club, Vadnais Heights and Hugo Lion’s Clubs, Cities of Birchwood, Gem Lake, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake and White Bear Township, donations and fares.
