Mission

The mission of the White Bear Lake Area Schools Extended Day Program is to provide a safe, social, and positive environment for school-aged children.

About the Program

The Extended Day Program provides care for elementary school aged children before and after school, on school release days, school vacations, and during the summer.  Children are offered options to participate in a variety of group and individual activities such as arts and crafts, games, physical activities, and quiet time.  The Extended Day staff works closely with the school staff to provide the best care for each individual child. The Extended Day Program follows all Independent School District #624 School Board approved policies including those outlined in the Student Discipline Code.

Program Hours

The School-Year Extended Day Program has three components:

•  Before School Program - runs from 6:30 a.m. to the start of the school day.
•  After School Program - runs from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m.
•  Extended Day Kindergarten Program - for kindergarten children only. Children attend that half-day for which they are not in school, (either 9:15 a.m.-1:10 p.m. or 11:45 a.m.-3:40 p.m.) These blocks of time may also be combined with the 6:30-9:00 a.m. and/or the 3:30-6:00 p.m. blocks of time.

Parents may sign-up for the program anytime throughout the school-year, but enrollment is on a space available basis. Detailed information about and registration materials for the upcoming School-Year program are generally available in January of the year prior. Non-School Day Extended Day Program

Registrations are being taken for March 1 and 2, 2012, at the locations below.  Registration deadline is February 16.  Parents must return the signed waiver for Sky Zone in order for their child to participate in the field trip on March 1.

Summer Extended Day Program

The Summer Extended Day Program runs from mid-June to mid-August, Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Parents may sign up on a standard contract upon which he/she commits to a regular schedule of 3, 4 or 5 days per week, or a variable contract upon which parents commit to a minimum of 15 days throughout the summer.  Detailed information about and registration materials for the Summer Extended Day Program are generally available in January.  Information about the program is available in the Community Services office.
