Please feel free to view our Parent Handbook for Special Education by clicking on the link below.  The handbook was completed with input from parents, WBLAS staff, administration and special education staff from surrounding metro districts.  The intent of the parent handbook is to provide parents with information needed to help them be active participants in their child's unique special education programming and planning.

Cognitively Impaired Adapted Sports League
Any cognitively impaired student in grades 7-12 is invited to participate in any of the three CI Adapted Sports offered in WBLAS: soccer, floor hockey and softball.  For more information, you can contact Brian Peloquin, Activities Director for WBLAS, by email or at 651-773-6208.  You can also click here for more information about WBLAS Athletics & Activities.  Or for more information from the Minnesota State High School League, click here .

Special Education Parent/Staff Advisory Council (PAC)
The purpose of the Special Education Parent/Staff Advisory Council is to act as an advisory body to the district through the Student Support Services Administrative Team on behalf of students receiving special education services. The Parent/Staff Advisory Committee will work towards the district mission of providing a high-quality educational experience for all learners as it applies to students with special needs and their families.

The PAC is scheduled to meet four times during the 2018-2019 school year.  You are encouraged to join other parents of students with special needs at any of the meetings this upcoming year:  The following is the 2018-2019 schedule. 

First Meeting:  Thursday, October 4, 2018, 6:30-8:00 p.m., Room 112, District Center, 4855 Bloom Avenue, WBL.

Second Meeting:  
Thursday, November 29, 2018, 6:30-8:00 p.m.,
Room 206, District Center, 4855 Bloom Avenue, WBL.

Third Meeting:  Thursday, January 24, 2019, 6:30-8:00 p.m., Room 206, District Center, 4855 Bloom Avenue, WBL.

Fourth Meeting:  Thursday, March 28, 2019, 6:30-8:00 p.m., Room 206, District Center, 4855 Bloom Avenue, WBL.

Transition Fair:

Families will have an opportunity to speak with several representatives from a variety of county and regional service agencies who will be on hand to explain the services available to students and families related to Transition.
