Academics: The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), signed into law in 2001, requires that each state, including Minnesota, create its own set of academic standards indicating what a child should know and learn at each grade level in math, science and reading/language arts. In addition the requirements set forth in NCLB, Minnesota has chosen to also develop standards in social studies.

Annual Report The District recently mailed to community members an Annual Report Preview of student achievement results, which continue to improve.	Curriculum and Assessment The district continually reviews what students are taught and how they are taught. Student performance, as shown by a variety of assessment results, guides the district in deciding what needs to be done so that all students can be successful.
English Learner Program Students whose primary language is not English and who are found to be in need of support will receive services to assist them in the acquisition of the English language.	Equity and Integration We come together to foster and ensure high achievement for all learners.We empower all members of the school community to provide an equitable and integrated learning environment with interculturally competent students and staff.	Gifted Services The White Bear Lake Area School District offers gifted services for students in grades K-12.
Special Education Services White Bear Lake Area Schools provides a comprehensive program for students with disabilities.	Title 1 Title I is a federal program that provides funds to supplement educational services in schools with higher percentages of students receiving Free or Reduced Price Lunch assistance.	Testing The primary purpose of testing in the White Bear Lake Area School District is to provide information to help improve instruction.
