To help the district meet its educational goals, the White Bear Lake Area Schools remains committed to a balanced budget through fiscal responsibility to ensure that maximum resources reach our classrooms.

In 1995, District 624 was in statutory operating debt of approximately $5.5 million. Since that time, sound financial decision-making by the school board and district administration as well as the dedication of all White Bear Lake staff in taking on additional workloads and responsibilities over the years have allowed District 624 to remain in the black.

The district has been recognized by many outside groups for its sound financial reporting and accounting.

In the fall of 2011, for the eleventh consecutive year, District 624 received both the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Award and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. White Bear Lake is the only district in the state to receive both awards for eleven straight years. (click for more information)

In addition, the Minnesota State Auditor's Report recognized District 624 for its commitment to putting general fund dollars in the classroom. According to the Auditor's analysis, approximately 72% of general fund dollars were spent in the classroom.
